1. From Narita airport (basement of airport) to Keisei Ueno station, you can take an express train "Skyliner" at Keisei airport terminal station for Ueno (a terminal in Tokyo). It takes about one hour and costs 1,920 yen. After arriving at Keisei Ueno station, you can walk to JR Ueno station (5 minutes).(2) JR Line2. From JR Ueno station to Mito station, you can take an express train "Flesh-Hitachi express" or "Super-Hitachi express" by JR Joban line. The trains leave every 30 minutes at platform No. 16 or 17 of Ueno station. It takes about one and half hours to Mito stations. You need a supplement for express trains. Fare from Tokyo to Mito is 3,580 yen including supplement.
2. From JR Tokyo station to Ueno station by Yamanote or Keihin-tohoku line. It takes about 8 minutes. The trains frequently run on both lines.
3. From Ueno station to Mito station by JR Joban line The same as mentioned in (2)-2. Total cost from Narita to Mito is about 4,500 yen (plus 1,660 yen for Narita express).
Note: The route of Mito via Narita line by changing a train at Abiko station is not recommended, in spite of its cheaper fare than that via Tokyo. This is because of the terrible inconvenience in the transfer from Narita line to Joban line; a few express trains stop at Abiko station. If you want to save your money, it is wise to use the bus mentioned above.
